Thursday Things

1. I don't drink the milk that's left after I eat cereal
2. I wear one earplug to bed (only when I just can't take the snoring or the dripping of a leak)
3. I bruise easily
4. I don't have my tonsils or adenoids
5. I am trying to have more Faith

Well no new leaks when I got home last night. I guess Ray raking the roof off did the trick. I know have some ceilings to paint because of the water damage. Oh well it could have been worse.
Finished The Rebels by John Jakes. It was not my favorite. It seems like nothing good happened in this book. It just made me sad. Hopefully The Seekers will have a little more happiness in it.

More Leaks

Yes you read that right. Got home last night and found a leak in our bedroom doorway. How is that possible? Ray went up into the crawl space and the insulation wasn't even wet. We can't figure out how it was leaking. Then I go into the living room and I notice my shades that cover the bow window are not the same color as when I left for work. That's right water damage. Not happy. I also had 2 pictures displayed under the shades and they don't look so good. Our wedding photo and a picture of my Mom, brother and I on Mom's 60th birthday. Not happy. So about 9pm last night Ray was up on the roof raking the snow off. Hopefully when I get home all will be as I left it and no new leaks. Please no more leaks.

We had 3 leaks this weekend. The first one was in our half bath off our bedroom. The water was just pouring out of the vent. That's now stopped. The second I found last night about 1am in the den. There was water coming in the window from the top. The third also found last night is in our bedroom also from the window. So tonight Ray is chopping the ice away and hopefully this will take care of the problem. The only really bad thing is water got on my small TV and my phone/answering machine in the den. I was not happy. Do electric things work after they get wet? I'm thinking no. Not happy. Why did I buy that roof rake for Ray if he's not going to make good use of it? Not happy.

Amazing Day

Tears in my eyes as I watched history being made today. President Barack Obama. What an amazing thing to write. President Obama is such a wonderful speaker. It's such a joy to listen to him and his speech was right on target. I can't wait to see where he will take and how he will heal our country. How many of you watched and cried or was it just me? Prayers go out to Sen. Ted Kennedy.
A fact I didn't know or maybe I did and didn't remember. Congress signed the Voting Rights Act in August of 1965 . 44 years ago and we now have our first African-American President and he's the 44 th. president , cool huh? Again what a proud day.

I love it. I found a dear friend of mine from way back on there. It is so nice to touch base with her again. She has such beautiful daughters and oh my quite a handsome husband. I'm glad to see she's doing well. I miss her. It's got to be about 15 years or so since I've seen her. So glad I did that silly facebook now.

Prime Suspect

I watched Prime Suspect 1 this weekend. I love Helen Mirren. She has such a strong presence on screen. They were also running The Queen this weekend on a couple of channels. If your not a fan you should be.

Finished the first book in the Kent family chronicles by John Jakes and am reading the 2nd. I didn't think I would really like them, however, they are amazing. The one I'm reading now the Rebels is depressing. It describes how the men who fought on the American side lived and how little they really had to work with. It is definitely not glossed over with prettiness. They had hardly any food, no real roofs over their heads, and they didn't know if they would ever see their loved ones again. I think it's important to see how hard it was and what it took to make us a free country. The language is a little much for me also as some of it takes place in the south and there is plenty of talk about the slaves. This was such a tragic time in our history. The people of the south owning people makes for difficult reading for me. It's so brutal. What I do like is the people who know it's wrong and set about making it right. I'll let you know how it goes.

Did I Say My Husband Was Handy?

I did and he usually is. Last night not so much. We have a leak in the main bathroom and last night Ray fixed it. Along with fixing it he set the insulation on fire. Not good. Scott was helping him and when we both saw smoke coming from the cabinet under the sink we knew. So Ray pulled all the insulation out and then Scott who was a fireman went and made sure the fire was truly out. My house smelled yucky for a while. I think I have to put him on torch discipline :)

New Year

Our New Years Eve was quiet, Ray hung out with Scott downstairs and I watched TV. Ray came up about 10pm and by 11 I was sleepy. So the new year came while we were sleeping. New Years day we went to my Mom's and had a wonderful dinner. So no big shakes for us, but that's ok. What did you do?
